Domaine Philippe Naddef is a family estate located in Gevrey-Chambertin, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. Covering a total area of 2 hectares 77 ares 38 centiares, the estate is known for its commitment to traditional methods and respect for the terroir. Philippe Naddef, a trained oenologist, manages his vineyards with rigor and passion to produce wines that fully express their appellation.

Vineyard

The vineyard lies within the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation, famous for its clay-limestone soils ideal for Pinot Noir. The climate and the orientation of the plots contribute to an optimal balance between grape ripeness and wine freshness. The Côte de Nuits is a prestigious sub-region of Burgundy, renowned for its structured and elegant red wines.

Wine

This Gevrey-Chambertin Village is a red wine made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes. It offers a well-rounded finish with velvety tannins and typical aromatic complexity from the region, featuring notes of red fruits, gentle spices, and a certain minerality. Its moderate concentration and balance make it accessible yet richly expressive.

The 2023 vintage was marked by favorable weather enabling optimal grape maturity while maintaining freshness for good balance. This Gevrey-Chambertin 2023 shows an attractive structure even at a young age, with promising aging potential given its freshness and substance.

Vinification & Aging

Vinification is conducted according to Burgundy traditions, with fermentation in stainless steel vats and aging in oak barrels for about 12 months. This approach preserves fruit freshness while adding complexity and subtle tannins. The aging fosters a harmonious integration of aromas and overall finesse.

Tasting

  • Appearance: Medium garnet red color with violet reflections.

  • Palate: Soft attack, fine and velvety tannins, balanced freshness and fruitiness, elegant finish with a delicate spicy touch.

Serving

Serve at 59-61°F (15-16°C). A slight decanting of about one hour is recommended for younger vintages to open up the bouquet.

Food Pairings

This wine pairs particularly well with matured ribeye steak, herb-crusted rack of lamb, aged Époisses or Brillat-Savarin cheese. It is also well-suited with roasted duck breast with juniper berries and venison stew for game enthusiasts.
