Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées 2020
A domaine steeped in history
Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Estate traces its roots back to 1863, when Frédéric Mugnier, a Dijon-based liqueur producer, acquired vineyards in Chambolle-Musigny. At the time, the family managed both the winery and a thriving distillery. However, as the spirits business declined in the 20th century, the domaine shifted its focus entirely to viticulture. After decades of sharecropping arrangements, Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier reclaimed full control of the family estate in 1985, restoring its prestige and reputation.
Prestigious terroirs in the heart of Chambolle-Musigny
Today, the estate spans 14 hectares, primarily in Chambolle-Musigny. Among its crown jewels are exceptional plots, including the legendary Musigny Grand Cru, as well as Les Amoureuses, Les Fuées, and Les Plantes Premier Cru. In 2004, the domaine also regained management of Clos de la Maréchale, a historic Nuits-Saint-Georges vineyard, further enriching its diverse wine portfolio.
A rigorous and sustainable approach to viticulture
The viticultural philosophy at Mugnier is one of deep respect for terroir. While the estate does not seek organic certification, its practices align with sustainable agriculture: no herbicides, traditional plowing, and adherence to the vine’s natural cycles. Harvesting is done entirely by hand, with meticulous grape selection to ensure the highest fruit quality and purest terroir expression.
A unique style, combining finesse and depth
Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier’s wines are celebrated for their elegance and aromatic purity. Winemaking follows a gentle approach, with natural fermentations and minimal new oak use—never exceeding 20% on the most prestigious cuvées. The goal is to preserve fruit purity, freshness, and fine tannic structure, resulting in refined and expressive wines built for long aging.
One of Burgundy’s most sought-after estates
Through meticulous craftsmanship and an unwavering pursuit of excellence, Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Estate has established itself as a benchmark in Burgundy. Collectors and enthusiasts worldwide seek out its cuvées, especially the Musigny Grand Cru and Clos de la Maréchale, which stand among the purest and most refined expressions of the Côte de Nuits. With limited production, each bottle is a testament to the estate’s dedication and passion for winemaking.
