Description of Bourgogne Chardonnay

Estate

Domaine Etienne Sauzet is renowned for its rigorous work on Burgundy terroirs. Its reputation is founded on a constant quest to authentically express Chardonnay in optimal conditions.

Vineyard

The vineyard is located in Burgundy, a region famous for producing elegant and mineral-driven white wines from Chardonnay. The limestone soils contribute to finesse and aromatic complexity.

Wine

This Bourgogne blanc reflects the freshness and purity typical of the 2023 vintage, with a delicate balance between intensity and subtlety. It embodies the precise and refined style of Domaine Etienne Sauzet.

Vintage

The 2023 vintage presents favorable conditions yielding a balanced and expressive maturity. This wine combines freshness with an appealing aromatic potential.

Vinification & Aging

Vinifications are carefully managed to preserve the purity and typicity of Chardonnay. Aging, often partly in oak barrels, encourages complexity while maintaining natural freshness.

Characteristics & Tasting

Tasting

  • Appearance: Pale yellow with green highlights, clear and bright.
  • Nose: Intense and fresh, offering aromas of citrus, white flowers, and subtle minerality.
  • Palate: Fresh and elegant, with balanced acidity structuring the wine, a saline and persistent finish.

Serving

Serve between 11 and 13°C. Decanting for 30 minutes is recommended to reveal aromatic expression.

Food Pairings

Pairs well with herb-crusted sea bass fillet, green asparagus risotto, roasted free-range chicken with thyme, or a slightly aged Époisses cheese.

Occasions

Ideal for a business lunch, a Sunday family meal, or a gathering with friends around seafood dishes.

Aging Potential

This wine can be enjoyed now but will develop greater complexity over 8-10 years, reaching its peak between 2028 and 2033.
