A Century-Old Family Heritage

Founded in the early 20th century by Etienne Sauzet, the eponymous estate is located in Puligny-Montrachet, at the heart of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy. After inheriting and acquiring several plots in this prestigious village, Etienne established a reputation for excellence in white wines. Today, the estate spans 15 hectares across the communes of Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Cormot-le-Grand in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune.

Transition to Biodynamic Practices

Over the generations, the estate has remained within the family, with significant modernizations introduced by Jeanine Boillot, Etienne Sauzet's granddaughter, and her husband Gérard Boudot. Under their guidance, improved vinification techniques and biodynamic farming practices were implemented, reflecting a deep respect for the terroir and the environment. This approach aims to produce wines that authentically express the unique character of each plot.

Iconic Burgundy Wines

The Domaine Etienne Sauzet is renowned for its white wines crafted from the Chardonnay grape, capturing the purity and complexity of the Puligny-Montrachet terroirs. Among the prestigious cuvées are renowned appellations such as Montrachet Grand Cru, Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, as well as several Premier Crus and village-level wines. Each wine is meticulously crafted, blending tradition and innovation to offer unforgettable tasting experiences.

Vinification Merging Tradition and Modernity

In the cellar, the estate adopts an approach that honors traditional methods while integrating modern techniques to enhance the grape's potential. Fermentations are conducted in oak barrels, with aging on lees for approximately 10 to 12 months, nourishing the wine and developing its aromatic complexity. This method results in balanced, elegant wines that truly represent their original terroir.

International Acclaim

The wines of Domaine Etienne Sauzet are among the most sought-after in Burgundy, appreciated for their finesse, balance, and ability to express the Puligny-Montrachet terroir. Whether for a tasting with friends or to enrich a collection, the estate's cuvées promise an exceptional sensory experience, showcasing the family's commitment to producing wines of the highest quality.
