Description of Henri Giraud Blanc de Blancs Ay Grand Cru

Estate

Champagne Henri Giraud is produced by the eponymous house, known for its expertise in the Champagne region. This house belongs to the Grandes Maisons, combining tradition and innovation to create exceptional wines.

Vineyard

Located in the Champagne region, the vineyard benefits from a Grand Cru terroir that favors high-quality grapes. The temperate climate and chalky soils contribute to the finesse of the Chardonnay cultivated here.

Wine

This Blanc de Blancs is made exclusively from Chardonnay, offering elegance and freshness to this Brut. The Grand Cru classification attests to its high level of quality and precision in winemaking.

Vintage

The 2013 vintage is marked by a balance of ripeness and freshness despite variable climatic conditions. The vintage produced grapes with beautiful acidity, perfectly suited to the character of Chardonnay.

Vinification and Aging

The wine is vinified with finesse to preserve the aromatic purity of Chardonnay. Aging takes place in the cellar with traditional secondary fermentation, and a Brut dosage that highlights the wine's natural liveliness.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does the brioche note dominate the aromas of this Blanc de Blancs?

The tasting notes mainly describe citrus and white flowers, accompanied by a hint of brioche. It is therefore better suited to those seeking aromatic finesse than to those who prefer a profile dominated by brioche notes.

What does the 2013 vintage bring to the Chardonnay in this cuvée?

The 2013 vintage combines ripeness and freshness, with fine acidity that supports the Chardonnay. Here, this results in a palate that is both fresh and generous, followed by a lingering finish.

For dinner, should I choose grilled lobster or pan-seared foie gras with sweet spices?

Both pairings are recommended: grilled Breton lobster highlights the wine’s freshness and minerality, while pan-seared foie gras brings out its generous character. The former is ideal for emphasizing its liveliness; the latter plays on the contrast between the richness of the dish and the freshness of the champagne.

How should I prepare the bottle before the guests arrive?

Plan to serve it between 8 and 10 °C. Opening it 30 minutes before serving may be appreciated, but it is optional and there is no need to decant it.
