A Legacy Rooted in the Heart of Avize

Established in the late 19th century, Champagne Pascal Agrapart is a historic estate deeply connected to the terroirs of the Côte des Blancs. Located in Avize, a prestigious Grand Cru village, the domaine has been passed down through generations, with Pascal Agrapart taking the helm in 1984. His meticulous care for the vineyard and dedication to expressing the purity of Chardonnay have placed the estate among the most respected in Champagne.

Terroir and Vineyards: The Soul of the Estate

The vineyard covers 12 hectares, spread across 62 individual plots primarily located in Avize, Cramant, Oiry, and Oger. These Grand Cru villages are renowned for their chalky subsoil, a defining feature that imparts incredible minerality and tension to the wines. Many of the vines are over 35 years old, with some exceeding 60 years, ensuring deeply rooted plants that produce concentrated, expressive fruit. Each parcel is cultivated with the utmost respect for its natural ecosystem, allowing the unique character of each plot to shine through in the wines.

A Commitment to Sustainable and Natural Viticulture

Pascal Agrapart follows a philosophy of organic and biodynamic viticulture, though he has never sought certification. His approach prioritizes soil health and vine balance, with no herbicides or synthetic treatments used in the vineyard. The work is done manually, from pruning to harvest, ensuring the highest quality grapes. Cover crops and composts enhance soil vitality, while natural biodiversity is encouraged to maintain a thriving ecosystem. These efforts are driven by a deep belief that healthy vines lead to authentic, terroir-driven champagnes.

Winemaking: Precision and Purity

In the cellar, the same respect for nature continues. Fermentations are carried out using only indigenous yeasts, allowing the wine to develop its identity without artificial influence. Aging takes place on fine lees in a mix of old oak barrels and stainless steel tanks, adding texture and complexity while maintaining freshness. Unlike many producers, Pascal Agrapart never practices chaptalization, meaning no additional sugar is added to increase alcohol levels. The wines remain true to the vintage and to the character of the grapes at harvest. Bottled with minimal intervention, each cuvée reflects the natural precision and vibrancy of the Côte des Blancs.

Signature Cuvées That Tell a Story

Every wine from Champagne Pascal Agrapart carries the imprint of its vineyard. Among the estate’s most recognized expressions, Minéral stands as a benchmark for Avize and Cramant Chardonnay, offering a striking balance between freshness and chalky tension. L’Avizoise, crafted from old vines in Avize, is a richer and more textured interpretation, bringing depth and intensity. Vénus, named after the first plowing horse of the domaine, is a cuvée that embodies the essence of minimal intervention, produced without dosage and revealing the purest expression of the Avize terroir.

An Invitation to Discover the Estate

Champagne Pascal Agrapart welcomes those eager to explore the artistry behind its wines. Tastings at the domaine offer a rare opportunity to immerse oneself in the philosophy of a vigneron devoted to authenticity and precision. Each bottle tells the story of a vineyard, a vintage, and a passion passed down through generations, making every sip a journey into the heart of the Côte des Blancs.
