Krug Grande Cuvée 171ème Edition Non millésimé
A House Founded on Boldness and Precision
In 1843, Joseph Krug laid the foundation for an exceptional Champagne house with a revolutionary vision: to create the best possible champagne each year, regardless of climate variations. Rejecting the limitations of a single vintage, he perfected the art of blending by selecting a vast array of wines from different terroirs and years.
Krug Grande Cuvée: A Yearly Masterpiece
A symbol of Krug’s expertise, the Grande Cuvée is re-created annually from a blend of over 120 wines spanning 10 to 15 different vintages. This unique complexity gives the champagne unparalleled depth and aromatic richness, combining freshness, roundness, and an exceptionally long finish.
Iconic Cuvées from Extraordinary Terroirs
Krug also distinguishes itself with its single-vineyard champagnes, offering a pure expression of unique terroirs. The Clos du Mesnil, a 1.84-hectare enclosed vineyard in Mesnil-sur-Oger, produces a Blanc de Blancs of crystalline precision. The Clos d’Ambonnay, from a tiny 0.68-hectare vineyard, reveals the full intensity and depth of Pinot Noir.
Meticulous Craftsmanship in the Cellar
Fermentation in small oak casks is a hallmark of Krug. This method allows for controlled micro-oxygenation, enhancing the wine’s complexity and finesse. Each bottle then rests for many years in the Reims cellars, allowing the alchemy of flavors to fully develop.
A Globally Celebrated Champagne House
Krug embodies luxury and perfection in the world of Champagne. From Michelin-starred restaurants to the cellars of collectors, every cuvée fascinates with its intensity and refinement. Under the current leadership of Julie Cavil, the house continues its pursuit of excellence while embracing a sustainable and terroir-conscious approach.
