Is this a coherent choice for exploring the Côte de Nuits beyond its red wines?

Yes: this Hautes-Côtes de Nuits is a Chardonnay white wine from the Côte de Nuits. It therefore offers a way to explore this subregion through a white wine, while staying within the same geographical area.

What does this bottle bring to a tasting of Chardonnays from several regions?

It offers a point of comparison from Burgundy, with a clearly identified origin: the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits. To make the comparison easier to follow, choose other wines also made from Chardonnay, rather than varying both the grape variety and the region at once.

How can I compare this 2024 with a white Hautes-Côtes de Nuits from another estate?

Choose a bottle from the same vintage that is also made from Chardonnay. This will give you shared reference points in terms of origin, grape variety, and year, so you can observe the differences between producers without immediately attributing them solely to the estate.

Is this bottle a good fit for an evening devoted to regional Burgundy wines?

Yes, its regional classification fits the theme. It allows you to include a white wine from the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits; for a more focused comparison, bring together other regional white wines from Burgundy made from Chardonnay.

How can I use this bottle to compare white wines from the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune?

You can serve it alongside a Chardonnay whose origin in the Côte de Beaune is clearly indicated, ideally from the same vintage and with the same classification. This comparison lets you explore two Burgundy origins without assuming that a single bottle represents its entire subregion.
