A Prestigious Family Heritage
Located in the heart of Vosne-Romanée, the Georges Noëllat Estate boasts a rich history closely tied to Burgundy's most esteemed names. Georges Noëllat was the nephew of Charles Noëllat, owner of one of Vosne's greatest domaines, parts of which later contributed to the formation of Domaine Leroy. After Georges' passing, his wife managed the estate before passing it to their daughter, Maria Theresa, and her husband, Jacques Cheurlin, in 1991. In 2010, their grandson, Maxime Cheurlin, took over at the age of 20, bringing fresh energy while honoring family traditions.
Exceptional Terroirs
Spanning 5.5 hectares, the estate encompasses parcels in prestigious terroirs of Vosne-Romanée and northern Nuits-Saint-Georges. Some vineyards feature old vines planted before World War II, producing renowned appellations such as Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru "Les Beaux Monts," Échezeaux Grand Cru, and Grands Échezeaux Grand Cru. The diversity and quality of these terroirs enable the estate to offer wines that faithfully reflect the unique expression of each plot.
Sustainable and Respectful Viticulture
Committed to preserving the environment and viticultural heritage, Maxime Cheurlin practices sustainable viticulture. Treatments are applied only in response to imminent threats, favoring methods that respect the vine and its ecosystem. This careful approach aims to maintain soil and vine health, ensuring the production of high-quality grapes.
Winemaking: Tradition Meets Modernity
Maxime's winemaking philosophy combines respect for Burgundian traditions with technical innovations. Grapes are hand-harvested and meticulously sorted. Cold maceration precedes fermentation with native yeasts, promoting gentle extraction of aromas and tannins. Aging occurs in French oak barrels, with the proportion of new wood varying by appellation, ranging from 30% to 100%. The wines are bottled without fining or filtration, preserving their purity and authenticity.
Wines Celebrated for Elegance and Finesse
Georges Noëllat Estate wines are praised for their elegance, finesse, and ability to express the distinct character of each terroir. With meticulous vineyard management and precise winemaking, each cuvée offers a rich and complex aromatic palette supported by a harmonious structure. These wines captivate both enthusiasts and critics, securing the estate’s reputation as one of the Côte de Nuits' finest producers.
