A Historic Estate in the Heart of Roussillon

Mas Amiel is an iconic Roussillon estate, located in Maury, within the Agly Valley. Its history dates back to 1816, when a bishop lost the vineyard in a game of cards. Since then, this unique terroir has continued to evolve, becoming a benchmark for both sweet fortified wines and premium dry wines. The estate covers over 220 hectares, with 170 hectares of vineyards cultivated biodynamically.

An Exceptional Terroir Shaped by Nature

Mas Amiel sits on schist soils mixed with marl and quartz, providing excellent water retention and thermal regulation. This terroir, combined with a hot, dry Mediterranean climate, enhances aroma concentration and wine structure. Constant winds naturally protect the vines from disease, allowing for environmentally respectful viticulture.

A Commitment to Biodynamic Viticulture

The estate follows organic and biodynamic practices to maintain soil vitality and biodiversity. No herbicides or pesticides are used, and treatments rely on natural preparations. Manual harvesting ensures careful selection of the finest grapes for each cuvée.

Iconic Wines Bridging Tradition and Modernity

Mas Amiel is globally recognized for its fortified sweet wines, particularly Maury, crafted using the mutage technique. The "Vintage" cuvée, fruity and indulgent, stands out for its youth and intensity, while "Rancio" wines offer remarkable complexity after decades of aging in glass bonbonnes and large oak vats. The estate also excels in dry Maury wines, producing deep and structured reds such as "Altair" and "Pur Schiste."
