A Centuries-Old Heritage in the Heart of Beaune
Established in 1865, Maison Camille Giroud is located in Beaune, the heart of Burgundy. For over a century, it remained a family-run business, renowned for specializing in traditional "vins de garde," wines crafted to age and develop complexity over time.
Evolution and Modernization
In 2001, the house was acquired by a group of American investors led by Ann Colgin and Joe Wender. This transition marked the beginning of a new era, introducing modern winemaking techniques while respecting traditional methods. The goal was to produce more approachable and supple wines without compromising their aging potential.
A Commitment to Quality and Terroir
Maison Camille Giroud owns just over one hectare of vineyards, complemented by grape and wine purchases from selected partner growers across Burgundy. This approach allows for a diverse range, including prestigious appellations such as Chambertin, Corton, and Echezeaux. Each wine is crafted with meticulous attention to faithfully reflect the unique character of its origin terroir.
Winemaking Combining Tradition and Innovation
Winemaking at Camille Giroud blends traditional practices, such as the use of wooden presses and open fermentation vats, with modern equipment for precise process control. Fermentations are carried out with indigenous yeasts, and aging occurs in French oak barrels, with a moderate proportion of new wood to preserve the expression of fruit and terroir.
An International Reputation
Through its commitment to quality and authenticity, Maison Camille Giroud enjoys worldwide recognition. Wine enthusiasts particularly value the ability of its cuvées to express the richness and diversity of Burgundy's terroirs, making each bottle a true sensory experience.
