A Family History Rooted in Meursault
Domaine Matrot, founded in 1835, is one of the oldest family-run estates in Meursault, Burgundy. For six generations, the Matrot family has passionately and skillfully cultivated vineyards in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, producing wines that faithfully express the richness and diversity of Burgundy's terroirs.
A Prestigious and Diverse Vineyard
The estate spans approximately 23 hectares, encompassing parcels in renowned appellations such as Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Auxey-Duresses, Monthélie, and Maranges. This variety of terroirs allows Domaine Matrot to offer a wide range of white and red wines, reflecting the unique characteristics of each plot.
An Environmentally Respectful Viticultural Approach
Aware of the importance of preserving their precious heritage, Adèle and Elsa Matrot, who currently manage the estate, have converted the entire vineyard to sustainable farming since 2000. This approach includes the use of organic fertilizers, soil tilling, and rigorous monitoring of vine health, ensuring high-quality grapes while respecting the local ecosystem.
Winemaking Combining Tradition and Modernity
Winemaking at Domaine Matrot adheres to traditional Burgundian methods, while incorporating modern techniques to optimize wine quality. Fermentations are conducted with indigenous yeasts, and aging takes place in carefully selected oak barrels. This blend of tradition and innovation results in balanced, elegant wines that are true representations of their terroir.
Wines Renowned for Their Authenticity and Finesse
Domaine Matrot's wines are appreciated both in France and internationally for their purity of fruit, authentic expression of terroir, and aging potential. Whether it's a Meursault Premier Cru Les Charmes, a Puligny-Montrachet Les Chalumeaux, or a Maranges Vieilles Vignes, each cuvée reflects the Matrot family's commitment to producing exceptional wines that embody the very essence of Burgundy.
