A winemaking tradition over 500 years old
The name "I Vigneri" comes from an ancient Sicilian winemakers' guild founded in 1435. Revived by Salvo Foti, a visionary oenologist and vigneron, I Vigneri continues this age-old legacy by bringing new life to the dramatic volcanic terroirs of Mount Etna. The approach is deeply artisanal, respectful of life, and inspired by traditional Sicilian viticulture.
Meticulous work on the volcanic slopes
The estate’s vineyards sit between 600 and 1,200 meters above sea level, on Etna’s unique volcanic soils. Grown in the traditional alberello style, tended entirely by hand and without machinery, the vines reflect a heroic form of viticulture. Natural cycles, chemical-free farming, and manual labor all contribute to the authenticity of each small-batch cuvée.
Native grape varieties for wines with identity
I Vigneri champions Etna’s indigenous grape varieties: Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Carricante... These grapes, perfectly adapted to the volcanic soils and mountain climate, produce wines of striking character. The reds are tense and mineral with elegant structure and fine tannins. The whites are marked by freshness, salinity, and aromatic precision.
A wild and pure style, close to nature
I Vigneri’s wines are not about technical perfection, but emotional resonance and terroir truth. Each bottle is the result of patient, manual labor in harmony with nature. Winemaking is natural, with no additives or filtration, and aging takes place in neutral containers to preserve the wine’s intrinsic energy.
A key estate in Etna’s wine renaissance
I Vigneri has played a major role in Etna’s modern wine revival. Salvo Foti, widely seen as one of the volcano’s greatest ambassadors, brings a unique signature to each wine. His vibrant and sincere cuvées are now celebrated worldwide for their authenticity, energy, and deep respect for local traditions.
