A Pioneering Family History

Founded in 1926 by Louis Picamelot, son of a cooper and winemaker, the house is one of the first in Rully to produce sparkling wines from Burgundy. Today, the third generation, represented by Philippe Chautard, grandson of Louis Picamelot, continues the family tradition by combining ancestral know-how with modern innovations.

An Exceptional Terroir in Rully

Located in Rully, in the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise, Maison Louis Picamelot benefits from diverse terroirs, ideal for cultivating Burgundy's emblematic grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Aligoté. The vines are cultivated using sustainable practices, respectful of the environment, to preserve biodiversity and fully express the typicity of the soils.

Traditional Winemaking Methods

The grapes are hand-harvested and gently pressed to obtain high-quality juices. Only the "heart of the cuvée," the purest part of the pressing, is used for the production of crémants. Fermentation and aging take place in cellars dug into the rock, offering ideal conditions for the slow and harmonious maturation of the wines.

Signature Cuvées

The house offers a diverse range of crémants, including:

  • Cuvée Jean-Baptiste Chautard: a Blanc de Blancs Brut made from Chardonnay and Aligoté, offering complex aromas of white-fleshed fruits and exotic notes.
  • Les Terroirs: a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Aligoté, reflecting the diversity of the terroirs of the Côte Chalonnaise, Côte de Beaune, and Côte de Nuits.
  • Les Reipes: a Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut from a plot located above Saint-Aubin, offering great complexity and finesse.
