A family heritage at the heart of Burgundy
The François de Nicolay Estate is deeply rooted in Burgundy's winemaking history. François de Nicolay, also co-owner of Domaine Chandon de Briailles since 1834, continues a family tradition dedicated to producing wines that faithfully reflect the diversity and richness of the region's terroirs.
A profound commitment to biodynamics
Since 2005, the estate has embraced biodynamic viticulture practices, obtaining Ecocert and Demeter certifications in 2011. This holistic approach aims to strengthen the vine's natural balance, promoting healthy and expressive grapes. Soils are worked with draft horses, preserving the microfauna and structure of the terroir.
Iconic terroirs enhanced by traditional expertise
The estate spans several prestigious Burgundy appellations, including Savigny-lès-Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses, and Corton. Each plot is cultivated with meticulous care, allowing emblematic grape varieties like Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to fully express the unique characteristics of their native terroir.
Natural winemaking for authentic wines
The estate's philosophy is based on minimal intervention in the cellar. Fermentations are spontaneous, conducted with indigenous yeasts, and the wines are aged without added sulfur, preserving their purity and vitality. This approach results in vibrant wines that truly reflect their terroir and vintage.
Cuvées renowned for their finesse and complexity
Among the estate's flagship wines are the Pernand-Vergelesses Premier Cru "Les Vergelesses," a Pinot Noir with silky tannins and ripe red fruit aromas, and the Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, a Chardonnay with great minerality and exceptional length on the palate. These cuvées, produced from controlled yields, are the result of rigorous and passionate work, offering enthusiasts unforgettable tasting experiences.
