A Historic Legacy in the Heart of Burgundy
Located in Prémeaux-Prissey, just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Estate de l'Arlot is a true gem of the Côte de Nuits. Its history dates back to the late 18th century when Jean-Charles Vienot built a wall around his vineyards, creating the renowned Clos de l’Arlot. This tradition continued in 1891 when the Belin family acquired the estate, expanding its holdings with Clos des Forêts Saint Georges and Clos du Chapeau. Since 1987, the estate has been owned by AXA Millésimes, further enhancing its portfolio with exceptional parcels, including Premier Crus in Vosne-Romanée and the prestigious Grand Cru Romanée Saint-Vivant.
An Exceptional Terroir: Unique Monopoles
Estate de l'Arlot spans 14 hectares, primarily planted with Pinot Noir, along with a smaller portion dedicated to Chardonnay. The estate is distinguished by two exclusive Premier Cru monopoles: Clos des Forêts Saint Georges, a seven-hectare vineyard producing deep, structured wines with remarkable complexity, and Clos de l’Arlot, a four-hectare plot that yields both refined reds and a rare, crystal-pure white. The entire vineyard is cultivated biodynamically, ensuring an authentic and vibrant expression of the terroir.
Wines of Remarkable Purity
The wines of Estate de l’Arlot are renowned for their precision and elegance. The Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Crus exhibit a finely chiseled structure, intense aromatics of red fruits, spices, and floral notes, as well as impressive aging potential. Clos des Forêts Saint Georges offers silky tannins and exceptional depth, while Clos de l’Arlot stands out for its balance and finesse. The rare Nuits-Saint-Georges Blanc is notable for its lively minerality and complex aromatic profile.
Excellence in Winemaking
Since 2014, under the leadership of Géraldine Godot, the estate has maintained its commitment to quality through a meticulous approach to winemaking. Hand-harvesting, strict grape selection, and the use of whole clusters during fermentation help preserve the wines' freshness and aromatic precision. Aging takes place in French oak barrels, with a minimal proportion of new wood, enhancing the texture and adding subtle complexity without overpowering the terroir’s natural expression.
International Acclaim
Thanks to its relentless pursuit of purity and authenticity, Estate de l’Arlot is now recognized as one of the leading producers in the Côte de Nuits. Its wines are highly sought after by collectors and wine lovers worldwide, gracing the finest tables and most prestigious cellars. This enduring success is a testament to the estate’s dedication to expressing, year after year, the true essence of Burgundy.
