A Family Legacy Since the 19th Century

Armand Heitz Estate traces its origins back to the 19th century when the Nie-Vantey family owned an extensive vineyard empire stretching from Santenay to Clos de Vougeot. After the phylloxera crisis, much of the vineyard holdings were sold, but Georges Lochardet, Armand Heitz’s great-grandfather, retained some of the most prized parcels in Côte de Beaune. Generations later, the merger of the Lochardet and Heitz families gave birth to a domain with a strong identity. Today, Armand Heitz carries on this legacy, blending tradition with a forward-thinking approach to sustainability.

A Prestigious Vineyard in Côte de Beaune

The estate spans multiple prestigious appellations, with remarkable plots in Chassagne-Montrachet, Meursault, Pommard, and Volnay. This diversity allows Armand Heitz to produce wines of great precision, each cuvée reflecting the nuances of its soil and climate. In addition to the family’s historic terroirs, the estate has expanded into Côte de Nuits and Beaujolais, showcasing a broader vision for the future.

Sustainable and Regenerative Viticulture

Believing that the future of winemaking depends on environmental stewardship, Armand Heitz has embraced sustainable farming practices inspired by permaculture and regenerative agriculture. The estate encourages natural grass cover, biodiversity, and minimal soil intervention to maintain its health and balance. Chemical treatments are entirely avoided, and only natural substances are used to protect the vines. This approach fosters stronger, healthier vines and ensures the production of high-quality grapes.

Precision Winemaking with Minimal Intervention

In the winery, Armand Heitz follows a low-intervention philosophy to allow the terroir to shine. Fermentations occur with indigenous yeasts, and gentle extractions preserve the finesse of the tannins. Aging takes place in French oak barrels, with a carefully controlled use of new wood to avoid overpowering the wines’ natural character. This meticulous process results in balanced, elegant, and aromatically pure cuvées.

Distinctive Wines Gaining Global Recognition

Armand Heitz Estate’s wines are celebrated for their precision, freshness, and depth. The whites, such as Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet, offer a striking mineral backbone and refined tension, while the reds from Pommard and Volnay display complexity and silky textures. With his commitment to excellence and environmentally friendly viticulture, Armand Heitz has developed a unique style that continues to attract praise from wine lovers and critics worldwide.
