A Family History Rooted in Chassagne-Montrachet
Morey-Coffinet Estate is the result of the union between two emblematic families of Chassagne-Montrachet: the Moreys and the Coffinets. Founded in the late 1970s by Michel Morey, son of Marc Morey, and his wife Fabienne Coffinet, the estate benefits from a prestigious winemaking heritage. Since 2009, their son Thibault has taken the helm, bringing a modern vision while respecting family traditions.
A Commitment to Organic and Biodynamic Farming
Dedicated to preserving the environment and fully expressing the terroir, the estate began its conversion to organic farming in 2014, achieving certification in 2015. Thibault Morey goes even further by adopting biodynamic principles, enhancing soil vitality and vine health. This approach results in vibrant wines that faithfully reflect their origin.
Exceptional Terroirs
The vineyard of Morey-Coffinet Estate spans approximately 8.5 hectares across prestigious parcels in the Côte de Beaune. Notable appellations include Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, and the Grand Cru Bâtard-Montrachet. The varied soils, primarily composed of limestone and clay, impart remarkable complexity and depth to the wines.
Winemaking Combining Tradition and Innovation
In the cellar, Thibault Morey favors natural fermentations with indigenous yeasts and limits the use of sulfur to preserve the purity of aromas. The wines are aged in oak barrels of various sizes (228, 350, and 400 liters), with a proportion of new wood tailored to each vintage and appellation. This customized approach enhances the expression of each terroir.
Wines Recognized for Their Elegance and Authenticity
Morey-Coffinet Estate's wines are distinguished by their balance, finesse, and ability to reflect the identity of their original terroir. The whites offer floral and mineral aromas with delightful tension on the palate, while the reds present notes of red and black fruits supported by silky tannins. This commitment to quality and respect for Burgundian traditions makes the estate a benchmark for fine wine enthusiasts.
