A Family Heritage in the Heart of the Mâconnais
Located in Bussières, 10 km south of Mâcon, Domaine de la Sarazinière is a family-run estate founded in 1926 by Claude Seigneuret. Today, Philippe and his son Guillaume Trébignaud represent the third and fourth generations leading the estate, upholding a winemaking tradition rooted in respect for the terroir and the vines.
Old Vines and Sustainable Viticulture
The estate spans 10 hectares, primarily planted with Chardonnay, Gamay, and Aligoté. Some parcels, notably those of Chardonnay and Gamay, were planted in 1926, imparting unique depth and complexity to the wines. Committed to sustainable agriculture, Philippe and Guillaume cultivate the soils without pesticides or herbicides, promoting biodiversity and vine health. Since 2018, the estate has been transitioning to organic farming.
Cuvées Reflecting Their Terroirs
Domaine de la Sarazinière offers a diverse range of wines, each faithfully expressing its terroir of origin. Notable cuvées include:
- “Le Pavillon” Mâcon-Bussières Blanc: A Chardonnay from old vines, presenting intense mineral notes and refreshing acidity.
- “Clos de Bruyères” Bourgogne Aligoté: A complex and round Aligoté with floral and saline aromas.
- “Les Devants” Mâcon-Bussières Rouge: A Gamay featuring black fruit and spice aromas, with smooth tannins and a lingering finish.
Winemaking Merging Tradition and Modernity
In the cellar, fermentations are conducted with indigenous yeasts, reflecting the purity of the fruit and terroir. Aging occurs in oak barrels, with a measured proportion of new wood, adding complexity and structure to the wines without overshadowing their character. This approach results in balanced, elegant, and authentic wines.
Recognition and Ongoing Commitment
Through their expertise and passion, Domaine de la Sarazinière's wines are recognized for their quality and authenticity, captivating wine enthusiasts in France and abroad. Philippe and Guillaume Trébignaud continue to enhance the Mâconnais terroirs while respecting the environment and family traditions.
