A Family Heritage Passed Down with Passion
Located in Morey-Saint-Denis, Domaine Castagnier is the result of a long-standing family tradition. Jérôme Castagnier, representing the fifth generation, initially pursued a prestigious musical career as a trumpeter in the Republican Guard. In 2004, he chose to return to his roots to continue the family's winemaking expertise, blending his artistic sensibility with the precision of viticulture.
Exceptional Terroirs in Grand Crus
Despite its modest size of four hectares, the estate stands out with a remarkable proportion of Grand Cru parcels, representing half of its vineyard. Among these gems are Clos de la Roche and Clos Saint-Denis, emblematic appellations that impart unparalleled complexity and depth to the wines.
Winemaking Respectful of the Terroir
Since 2013, Jérôme Castagnier has embraced a minimalist approach in the cellar, favoring natural winemaking without chaptalization, acidification, fining, or filtration. This method aims to preserve the authenticity and pure expression of the terroir in each bottle, reflecting the richness of Burgundy's soils.
Cuvées Revealing Finesse and Complexity
Domaine Castagnier's wines are renowned for their elegance and harmonious structure. Clos de la Roche captivates with its ripe red fruit aromas and spicy notes, while Clos Saint-Denis offers floral delicacy and remarkable length on the palate. Each cuvée reflects meticulous craftsmanship and a passion for excellence.
Growing International Recognition
Thanks to the consistent quality of its wines and an authentic approach to viticulture, Domaine Castagnier is gaining notoriety on the international stage. Wine enthusiasts and critics alike commend the estate's commitment to producing wines that honor Burgundy's heritage while embodying a contemporary vision of winemaking.
