An estate rooted in the hills of Castelnuovo Don Bosco
Cascina Gilli is located in the rolling hills of Castelnuovo Don Bosco, northeast of Turin in Piedmont. While less known than the Langhe, this region is home to unique indigenous grapes. Founded in the 1980s, the estate is dedicated to reviving traditional varieties with a quality-driven and terroir-respecting philosophy.
Freisa and Malvasia, two distinctive grapes
Cascina Gilli focuses on native grapes such as Freisa, a relative of nebbiolo, and Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco, crafted in lightly sparkling or passito styles. These wines are true expressions of the area, with vivid aromatics, natural freshness, and strong gastronomic appeal.
Precise, parcel-focused viticulture
The estate cultivates about 20 hectares of vineyards on well-exposed slopes. Sustainable farming practices and meticulous vineyard care are applied. Each parcel is vinified separately to preserve the nuances of terroir. Gentle winemaking methods highlight the natural delicacy of these heritage grapes.
Authentic wines with regional character
Cascina Gilli’s wines reflect their Piedmontese roots. The reds are elegant and vibrant, with fine tannins and floral-fruity aromas. The Malvasia wines are slightly sweet, refreshing, and full of charm, ideal for aperitifs or fruit-based desserts. Each bottle offers a fresh perspective on traditional styles.
A champion of Piedmont's lesser-known treasures
Cascina Gilli is among the estates revitalizing underappreciated appellations of northern Piedmont. With its honest style, careful winemaking, and commitment to indigenous grapes, it has become a key ambassador for the region’s viticultural diversity and heritage.
