A Family History and Organic Commitment

Maison Georges Laval is a family-run estate located in Cumières, in the heart of Champagne. Since 1971, the Laval family has practiced certified organic viticulture, respecting both the environment and the terroir. This pioneering approach reflects their commitment to natural and sustainable farming methods.

An Exceptional Vineyard

The estate covers 2.5 hectares, with 2 hectares in the premier cru village of Cumières and half a hectare in Chambrecy, in the Vallée de l'Ardre. The vines, averaging 30 years old, with some over 70 years, are cultivated without chemicals, promoting biodiversity and soil health.

Traditional Winemaking Methods

Grapes are harvested at full ripeness and pressed in a traditional vertical press. Fermentation occurs in barrels with indigenous yeasts, without chaptalization. The wines are neither filtered nor fined, preserving their purity and authentic expression of the terroir. Sulfur use is minimal, with total levels typically below 20 mg/L.

Terroir-Driven Cuvées

Among the estate's signature champagnes, the “Cumières Premier Cru Brut Nature” stands out for its balance and complexity, offering ripe fruit aromas and pronounced minerality. The “Les Chênes”, from old Chardonnay vines, captivates with its finesse and depth. Each cuvée faithfully reflects the unique terroir of Cumières.

Recognition and Limited Production

Producing approximately 10,000 bottles annually, Maison Georges Laval is esteemed by connoisseurs for the exceptional quality of its champagnes. This limited production showcases artisanal expertise and meticulous attention at every stage of winemaking, ensuring wines of great purity and authentic expression.
