A Family Legacy Dedicated to Winemaking
Thierry Mortet Estate was founded in 1992 when Thierry took over 4 hectares of family vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin, following the division of the family estate between him and his brother, Denis Mortet. Driven by a deep passion for viticulture and winemaking, Thierry gradually expanded the estate, which now spans 8.5 hectares across Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Couchey, and Daix.
A Strong Commitment to Organic Viticulture
In 2007, the estate embarked on a full conversion to organic farming, officially certified in 2010. Convinced of the importance of preserving the soil and ecosystem, Thierry Mortet adopts natural cultivation methods, eliminating pesticides and promoting mechanical soil management. This approach ensures the purest expression of Burgundy’s terroirs while protecting the environment for future generations.
Exceptional Terroirs Enhanced by Artisanal Expertise
The estate cultivates several renowned climates, including Village and Premier Cru appellations in Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny. Each vineyard is meticulously tended to extract the full potential of its terroir. Harvesting is done entirely by hand, allowing for rigorous grape selection and ensuring optimal wine quality.
Precision Winemaking for Authentic Wines
In the cellar, Thierry Mortet follows a winemaking philosophy that respects the fruit’s integrity. Fermentations are natural, using indigenous yeasts, while extraction is handled gently to maintain the finesse of aromas and balance of tannins. Aging takes place in French oak barrels for 12 to 18 months, with a limited proportion of new wood to avoid overshadowing the terroir’s expression.
A Recognized Signature and a Vision for the Future
Thierry Mortet Estate wines are known for their elegance, structure, and aromatic freshness. Thanks to its commitment to sustainable viticulture and dedication to Burgundian traditions, the estate has built a strong reputation both in France and internationally. Today, Thierry Mortet continues to refine his craft, relentlessly pursuing perfection and offering wine enthusiasts authentic cuvées that faithfully reflect their terroirs of origin.
