Fleurie 2020
Morgon 2023
A family heritage in the heart of Beaujolais
In 1980, Jean and Agnès Foillard took over the family estate in Villié-Morgon, continuing a winemaking tradition rooted in respect for the terroir. From the outset, they committed to a natural approach to viticulture, avoiding chemical inputs to promote a pure expression of Gamay and the region's granitic soils.
Pioneers of the natural wine movement
Jean Foillard is recognized as one of the emblematic members of the "Gang of Four," a group of Beaujolais winemakers who, inspired by Jules Chauvet, redefined winemaking standards by favoring traditional and non-interventionist methods. This philosophy aims to produce authentic wines that faithfully reflect their origin and vintage.
Signature cuvées revealing the Morgon terroir
Among the estate's flagship wines, the Morgon "Côte du Py" stands out for its depth and complexity, derived from soils rich in schist and volcanic rock. The "Corcelette," on the other hand, charms with its finesse and floral aromas, resulting from vines planted on sandy soils. Each cuvée is the result of meticulous attention, from the vineyard to bottling, without filtration or added sulfur.
Respectful and minimalist winemaking
In the cellar, Jean Foillard practices whole-cluster vinification with semi-carbonic maceration, a traditional Beaujolais technique. Fermentations are driven by indigenous yeasts, and aging occurs in old oak barrels, allowing the wines to develop character without excessive wood influence. This approach ensures vibrant wines that evolve harmoniously over time.
Well-deserved international recognition
Today, Domaine Jean Foillard's wines are acclaimed by enthusiasts and critics worldwide. Their ability to combine depth, elegance, and drinkability makes them essential references for those seeking sincere and vibrant expressions of Gamay and the Morgon terroir.
