A Historic Estate with a Vision for the Future
Located in Beblenheim, Alsace, the Bott-Geyl estate perfectly blends history with modernity. Originally founded in the 18th century, it took a major turn in 1993 when Jean-Christophe Bott took over, bringing a deep respect for nature and terroir. He converted the vineyard to organic farming in 2000 and embraced biodynamics in 2002, convinced that only a living soil could produce truly expressive wines. His goal is clear: to craft wines that capture the purest essence of their terroirs.
Exceptional Terroirs Showcasing Alsace’s Diversity
The Bott-Geyl estate covers 15 hectares of vineyards, including six prestigious Grand Crus: Sonnenglanz, Schoenenbourg, Sporen, Mandelberg, Furstentum, and Schlossberg. These diverse terroirs, with granite, limestone, and marl soils, provide an exceptional geological richness that translates into complex and refined wines. Each cuvée is vinified with minimal intervention, ensuring that the unique personality of each plot is preserved.
A Biodynamic Approach for Pure Terroir Expression
Jean-Christophe Bott is a passionate advocate of biodynamics, believing that vines must exist in harmony with their environment to produce the finest grapes. The vineyard is cultivated using natural preparations, following lunar cycles, and avoiding synthetic chemicals. Hand-harvesting ensures meticulous grape selection. In the cellar, fermentations occur naturally with indigenous yeasts, and the wines undergo extended aging on fine lees, resulting in depth, energy, and remarkable complexity.
Character-Driven Alsace Wines Full of Emotion
The Bott-Geyl wine collection is marked by intensity and precision. The Rieslings stand out for their crystalline purity and striking minerality. Gewurztraminer enchants with its exotic spice and tropical fruit aromas, while Pinot Gris delivers a perfect balance of richness and elegance. The estate also produces exceptional late-harvest wines and Sélections de Grains Nobles, highly sought-after for their depth, concentration, and age-worthiness.
Bott-Geyl, an Essential Name in Alsace Winemaking
With its unwavering commitment to producing honest, terroir-driven wines, the Bott-Geyl estate has earned its place among Alsace’s finest. Praised by critics and featured on top restaurant wine lists, its cuvées showcase the extraordinary potential of Alsace’s vineyards and the craftsmanship of a dedicated winemaker. To taste a Bott-Geyl wine is to embark on a sensory journey through the authenticity and aromatic richness of great Alsace wines.
