Should you wait until 2040 to open this 2015 Mazis-Chambertin?

Appearance: Deep ruby red with garnet highlights.
Nose: Complex, combining aromas of black cherry, violet, undergrowth, and black truffle.
Palate: Powerful and elegant, with silky tannins and good freshness. The finish is long and persistent.

No: the stated peak drinking window runs from 2025 to 2040, and the wine is described as ready to drink now. You can therefore open it before the end of this window, while still having the option to age it until then.

Should you serve this 2015 at room temperature and always decant it?

The recommended temperature is 16 to 18 °C, so it is better to stick to this range rather than an unspecified room temperature. Decanting for 1 to 2 hours is recommended for young wines; this is not a blanket recommendation for the 2015 vintage today.

Can you pair it with a meat-free dish featuring truffle?

Yes, black truffle risotto from Périgord is among the suggested pairings. It echoes the notes of undergrowth and black truffle described on the nose, while the silky tannins and lovely freshness complement the wine's profile.

Does the warmth of 2015 make this a predominantly weighty wine?

The hot, dry summer brought ripeness and concentration, but the tasting notes also describe lovely freshness and silky tannins. This Mazis-Chambertin from Charlopin therefore combines power and elegance rather than sheer richness.

What does Parker's score of 94–96 really tell you when choosing this bottle?

This range is a favorable critical benchmark, but no detailed comment from Parker is provided. To choose according to your tastes, the tasting notes are more specific: black cherry, violet, undergrowth and black truffle, with a powerful palate, silky tannins and a long finish.
