A historic house in Ispoure, Basque Country
Founded in 1897 and revitalized by Étienne Brana in the 1970s, the Brana estate is based in Ispoure, near Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. It stands as a reference in French artisanal distillation, known for its elegant fruit eaux-de-vie and innovative spirits like gin and traditional liqueurs.
Artisanal distillation honoring the fruit
Brana’s eaux-de-vie are made exclusively from fresh, ripe fruit—often harvested in the family’s own orchards. Each batch is carefully distilled in small copper stills, using slow, traditional methods to preserve the full aromatic expression of the fruit. Their iconic Poire Williams eau-de-vie is a benchmark: clear, fragrant, and remarkably pure.
Basque savoir-faire in every bottle
Beyond eaux-de-vie, Étienne Brana developed other spirits capturing the Basque spirit: fine liqueurs (like wild sloe or raspberry), an emblematic gin made with local botanicals, and biodynamic wines under the Irouléguy appellation. A holistic, terroir-driven approach that celebrates taste and authenticity.
A strong identity, rooted in tradition and innovation
Brana’s Basque roots are expressed not only in the flavors but also in the design—elegant, modern, and evocative. By combining artisanal heritage with creative curiosity, the house produces expressive and award-winning spirits embraced by enthusiasts, mixologists, and chefs worldwide.
A family legacy with a forward-looking spirit
Today, Martine Brana, Étienne’s daughter, leads the estate with the same rigor and passion. The Brana estate remains independent and committed to its artisanal identity, innovating while honoring its roots. Every bottle is a tribute to the Basque Country’s richness and soul.
