A meeting of two winemaking traditions
In Burgundy, Anne Gros built her reputation crafting wines of exceptional finesse in Vosne-Romanée. Jean-Paul Tollot, meanwhile, worked for years at the family estate Tollot-Beaut, bringing remarkable precision to Côte de Beaune wines. Seeking new challenges and captivated by Languedoc’s potential, they decided in 2006 to join forces and launch an unprecedented project in Minervois.
Cazelles, a unique terroir within Minervois
At over 200 meters in altitude, on sandstone and limestone soils, the Cazelles vineyard provides ideal conditions for producing precise and elegant wines. The cool climate allows Mediterranean varietals such as Syrah, Carignan, and Grenache to ripen slowly, preserving a natural balance between fruit and acidity. This refined approach, inspired by their Burgundian expertise, results in wines of remarkable purity.
A winemaking approach rooted in nature’s principles
Committed to a philosophy of respecting the natural world, Anne and Jean-Paul practice sustainable viticulture, carefully observing each vineyard’s natural cycles. Hand-harvesting ensures meticulous grape selection, while vinification relies on spontaneous fermentations and gentle extractions. Each cuvée is an honest expression of its terroir, free of artifice or excessive manipulation.
Wines that harmonize concentration and elegance
Among the estate’s standout cuvées, "Les Carrétals" captivates with its balance of depth and freshness, while "La Ciaude" offers superb structure, marked by spicy and mineral notes. "Les Fontanilles," an unusual blend of Syrah, Carignan, Grenache, and Cinsault, perfectly embodies the estate’s signature style—where finesse meets power. Every wine carries this dual influence, merging Burgundian precision with the energy of the South.
A domaine reshaping the image of Languedoc wines
In just a few years, Anne Gros and Jean-Paul Tollot have established a unique vision of Minervois, where fruit expression and freshness take precedence over sheer power. Their long-term work has placed their wines on the international stage, attracting both Burgundy enthusiasts and Mediterranean wine lovers. This estate stands at the crossroads of two traditions, proving that true innovation often comes from blending different terroir philosophies.
