A family legacy rooted in Burgundy
Located in Morey-Saint-Denis, Domaine Robert Groffier has been a cornerstone of Burgundian viticulture for several generations. Founded by Jules Groffier in the 1950s, the estate is now managed by his grandson, Nicolas Groffier, who passionately upholds the family heritage while introducing a modern and innovative vision.
Prestigious vineyards in the heart of the Côte de Nuits
The estate encompasses nearly 8 hectares of vines, including iconic parcels such as:
- Bonnes Mares Grand Cru: 1 hectare producing powerful and structured wines.
- Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru: almost 0.5 hectares offering wines of rare elegance.
- Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses: 1 hectare, making Groffier the largest owner of this renowned climat known for its delicate and refined wines.
This diversity of terroirs allows the estate to offer a range of wines that faithfully reflect the richness and complexity of the Côte de Nuits.
Precise and respectful viticulture
Committed to a sustainable approach, Domaine Robert Groffier practices reasoned viticulture, minimizing the use of chemicals and favoring manual interventions. The vines are predominantly trained in Cordon de Royat, a pruning method that delays budburst, reducing the risks associated with spring frosts. This technique notably helped preserve the vines during the frost episodes in 2016.
Winemaking blending tradition and modernity
In the cellar, Nicolas Groffier adapts winemaking methods based on the characteristics of each vintage. The use of whole clusters is adjusted according to the ripeness of the grapes and stems, reaching up to 100% for certain cuvées like Chambertin Clos de Bèze. Fermentations are conducted with indigenous yeasts, and aging occurs in French oak barrels, with the proportion of new wood carefully managed to preserve balance and fruit purity.
Globally acclaimed signature cuvées
Domaine Robert Groffier's wines are lauded by enthusiasts and critics for their depth, finesse, and aging potential. Featured on prestigious tables and in collectors' cellars, they embody Burgundian excellence and craftsmanship, reflecting an unwavering pursuit of perfection and authenticity.
