A Four-Generation Family Heritage

For over a century, Domaine Humbert Frères has carried forward a winemaking tradition of excellence in Gevrey-Chambertin. Founded by their ancestors, the estate is now led by Emmanuel Humbert, alongside his nephew Pierre-Yves, who recently succeeded Frédéric Humbert. This generational transition reflects a deep attachment to the land and Burgundian traditions while incorporating modern techniques to refine each vintage. Through this balance of heritage and innovation, Domaine Humbert Frères has established itself as a leading reference in Côte de Nuits.

A Prestigious Vineyard in the Heart of Côte de Nuits

The estate covers 7 hectares, spread across renowned terroirs in Gevrey-Chambertin and Fixin. Exclusively dedicated to Pinot Noir, the vineyard produces exceptional wines, including Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, Premier Crus "Poissenot" and "Estournelles Saint-Jacques," and the prestigious Grand Cru "Charmes-Chambertin." Each plot is meticulously cultivated to bring out the unique characteristics of its soil and microclimate, resulting in wines of remarkable complexity.

Sustainable Viticulture and a Deep Respect for Terroir

With a strong commitment to preserving its viticultural heritage, Domaine Humbert Frères practices sustainable farming and holds the High Environmental Value (HVE) level 3 certification. The use of chemicals is minimized, and the soil is naturally maintained to encourage biodiversity and vine balance. Every vineyard operation, from pruning to harvest, follows lunar cycles to optimize grape quality. This meticulous approach ensures concentrated berries that yield wines of pure and authentic expression.

Meticulous Vinification for Exceptional Wines

In the winery, the estate’s philosophy is to intervene as little as possible to allow the terroir to shine. After a cold pre-fermentation maceration lasting about a week, fermentation takes place in concrete vats under close supervision. The wines are aged in oak barrels for 18 months, with the proportion of new wood carefully adjusted: 100% for Grand Crus and Premier Crus, and 40 to 50% for Village and Regional appellations. Since 2014, the wines have been neither fined nor filtered, preserving their full richness and aging potential.

Wines of Unique Character, Balancing Power and Elegance

Domaine Humbert Frères’ wines stand out for their perfect balance between elegance and depth. The Gevrey-Chambertin wines offer superb concentration, with intense aromas of red and black fruits, enhanced by floral and spicy notes. The Premier Crus develop a velvety texture and remarkable complexity, while the Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru delivers exceptional intensity and tremendous aging potential. With their harmonious structure and long finish, the estate’s wines continue to captivate enthusiasts and collectors worldwide.
