A family estate at the heart of Normandy
For five generations, the Groult family has distilled calvados at its estate in Saint-Cyr-du-Ronceray, in the heart of the Pays d’Auge. The Roger Groult distillery embodies traditional know-how rooted in time, patience, and Normandy’s terroir. Surrounding the estate are high-stem apple orchards cultivated without synthetic pesticides.
Traditional wood-fired double distillation
Roger Groult Calvados is made exclusively from farm cider, double-distilled in small copper pot stills heated over wood fires. This artisanal method intensifies the apple aromas while preserving finesse and balance. Fermentation occurs naturally, with no added yeasts, to let the true character of the fruit shine through.
Extended aging in oak barrels
Each calvados is aged for many years in oak casks of various origins and sizes. Over time, the spirit develops rich aromas of baked apple, spice, vanilla, and dried fruit. The estate offers calvados aged from 3 years up to over 30 years, including rare vintage expressions.
An authentic and refined style
Roger Groult Calvados is known for its balance between aromatic intensity, fresh fruit character, and long finish. Even after decades of aging, the spirits retain vibrancy and precision. The house style is pure, expressive, and considered a benchmark in quality apple brandies.
A globally recognized artisanal house
Exported to many countries, Roger Groult Calvados is regularly awarded at international competitions. The estate continues its family tradition while embracing modern values: eco-conscious orchard management, transparency, small-scale production, and strong identity. A must-know name for lovers of exceptional eaux-de-vie.
