A Centuries-Old Family History
Founded in 1808 by François Drappier, the Drappier estate is located in Urville, at the heart of the Côte des Bar. For over two centuries, this family-run house has upheld a unique expertise, blending respect for traditions with a spirit of innovation. Today, the eighth generation of the Drappier family continues to passionately and committedly manage the estate.
An Exceptional Terroir
Drappier's vineyards span 100 hectares, primarily around Urville. The limestone soils and favorable exposure of the plots provide ideal conditions for cultivating Pinot Noir, the house's emblematic grape variety. This varietal represents 70% of the plantings, complemented by Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, as well as ancient varieties such as Arbane, Petit Meslier, and Pinot Blanc.
Sustainable Viticultural Practices
Committed to an ecological approach, the Drappier estate favors sustainable viticulture. A portion of the vineyard is organically farmed, and the use of chemical products is minimized. Additionally, Drappier is renowned for its moderate use of sulfur during vinification, even offering a cuvée without added sulfur, the Brut Nature Sans Soufre.
Signature Cuvées
Among the house's flagship champagnes, the Cuvée Carte d'Or stands out for its aromatic richness and balance, predominantly composed of Pinot Noir. The Grande Sendrée, a prestige cuvée, is crafted from grapes sourced from a single parcel, offering complexity and elegance. Lastly, the Quattuor cuvée highlights four rare grape varieties, reflecting Drappier's commitment to Champagne's ampelographic diversity.
International Recognition
Through its dedication to quality and authenticity, Champagne Drappier enjoys worldwide acclaim. Its champagnes are cherished for their distinctive character and faithful expression of the terroir. The house also offers tours of its historic 12th-century cellars, providing visitors with an immersive experience into Champagne's history and craftsmanship.
