Estate Robert Chevillon - Viticultural Excellence in Nuits-Saint-Georges
A Century-Old Family History
Domaine Robert Chevillon traces its origins to the early 20th century with Symphorien Chevillon, who began cultivating approximately twelve hectares of vines in Nuits-Saint-Georges. Over the generations, the estate expanded, with each generation adding Premier Cru plots to its portfolio. In the 1960s, Robert Chevillon significantly developed the estate, and since 2003, his sons Denis and Bertrand, representing the fifth generation, have managed it.
A Prestigious Vineyard
The estate spans nearly 13 hectares, comprising eight old-vine Premier Cru plots located exclusively in Nuits-Saint-Georges. These include "Les Bousselots," "Les Cailles," "Les Chaignots," "Les Perrières," "Les Pruliers," "Les Roncières," "Les Saint-Georges," and "Les Vaucrains." This diversity of terroirs allows the estate to produce wines with varied profiles, while maintaining a common signature of elegance and complexity.
Traditional Viticultural Practices
The Chevillon brothers adopt a traditional approach to viticulture, with manual harvesting and complete destemming of the grapes. Cold maceration is followed by slow fermentation, and the wines are aged for 18 months in oak barrels, with 25 to 30% new wood for the Premier Crus. This method yields structured, fruity, and elegant wines, suitable for aging while being relatively accessible when young.
