A Family History Rooted in Meursault
Domaine Pierre Morey traces its origins to the 16th century, with the family's presence in Meursault dating back to 1793. In 1971, Pierre Morey established the eponymous estate, continuing a centuries-old winemaking tradition. Together with his daughter Anne, co-manager, he passionately cultivates 10 hectares of vineyards located primarily in Meursault, Monthelie, Pommard, and Puligny-Montrachet.
A Commitment to Biodynamics
Since 1997, the estate has embraced biodynamic practices, certified by Biodyvin, following a conversion to organic farming in 1992. This holistic approach aims to enhance the natural balance of the vine and soil, thereby promoting the authentic expression of each terroir in every cuvée. Treatments are minimized, and interventions are environmentally friendly, reflecting a deep respect for nature and viticultural heritage.
Exceptional Terroirs
The vineyards of Domaine Pierre Morey encompass prestigious parcels, including renowned appellations such as Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Monthelie, and Pommard. Notable crus include Meursault Premier Cru Perrières, Pommard Premier Cru Les Grands Epenots, and Volnay Premier Cru Santenots. Each plot is meticulously tended to reveal the unique characteristics of its terroir.
Winemaking Combining Tradition and Precision
Winemaking at the estate adheres to traditional Burgundian methods while incorporating modern techniques to enhance wine quality. Grapes are hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and the wines are aged in oak barrels for periods ranging from 12 to 20 months. This meticulous approach results in balanced, elegant wines with significant aging potential.
International Recognition
Domaine Pierre Morey's wines are esteemed both in France and internationally for their purity, finesse, and faithful reflection of their original terroirs. This commitment to excellence and respect for Burgundian tradition has established the estate as a benchmark for fine wine enthusiasts.
