Description of Vin de France Blanc Sec "Les Jardins de Babylone"

Estate

The Domaine Didier Dagueneau is renowned for its expertise in crafting white wines from the Southwest of France. This family estate highlights the richness and typicity of local grape varieties.

Vineyard

Located in the Southwest region, the vineyard benefits from a terroir well-suited to the Petit Manseng grape, offering a fine balance of freshness and aromatic complexity.

Wine

This white Vin de France stands out for its purity and finesse, perfectly reflecting Didier Dagueneau's craftsmanship. It provides an elegant and precise tasting experience.

Vintage

The 2021 vintage was characterized by favorable climatic conditions, allowing optimal ripening of the Petit Manseng, resulting in a vibrant and balanced wine.

Vinification and Aging

The vinification is carefully done to preserve freshness and varietal aromas. Aging in stainless steel tanks maintains the vivacity and purity of the fruit without alteration.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does the name “Les Jardins de Babylone” necessarily refer to a sweet wine?

No: this 2021 is indeed described as a dry white wine. The catalog also includes off-dry and sweet versions under this name, so check the style indicated, not just the cuvée name.

If I’m planning to open a bottle soon, should I choose this 2021 over the dry 2019 or 2020 versions?

The information provided does not make it possible to determine which one is more ready to drink. Without any indication of maturity or comparative tasting notes, the vintage alone is not enough to recommend one of these bottles over another.

Can this 2021 replace the 2009 sweet Jurançon “Les Jardins de Babylone” in my selection?

Not if you are specifically looking for a sweet wine: this 2021 is a dry white wine, listed as Vin de France rather than under the Jurançon appellation. The shared name should not lead you to expect the same style of wine.

Is this a suitable bottle for a tasting focused on Petit Manseng?

Yes, Petit Manseng is the only grape variety listed for this cuvée from Dagueneau Didier estate. It offers an opportunity to discover this grape in a dry style, although no notes are provided here to describe its aromatic profile.

Which vintages should I pair with this 2021 for a comparative tasting of the dry cuvée?

The dry 2018, 2019, and 2020 versions listed in the catalog make it possible to create a vertical tasting with this 2021. Keeping to the same cuvée and the same “dry” designation provides a more consistent basis for comparison than including the off-dry or sweet versions.
