After training in Burgundy and working with some of the finest natural winemakers, he established his estate in 2008 in Avenas, at the heart of Beaujolais' crus. Dedicated to organic viticulture and low-intervention winemaking, he crafts Gamay wines that highlight purity and elegance.

His vineyards, located on steep granite slopes, benefit from an ideal climate that imparts freshness and minerality to the wines. Committed to organic farming, he avoids synthetic chemicals, promoting biodiversity and allowing the terroir to express itself fully.

Natural Winemaking with No Artifice

Following traditional Beaujolais methods, Julien Sunier employs whole-cluster fermentation with semi-carbonic maceration, enhancing fruit purity and preserving fine tannins. All grapes are hand-harvested, and fermentations occur with native yeasts. Aging takes place in used Burgundy barrels, adding complexity and depth while maintaining freshness and vibrancy.
