A Passionate and Committed Winemaker

Julien Sunier is part of the new wave of winemakers redefining Beaujolais. After training in Burgundy and working with some of the finest natural winemakers, he established his estate in 2008 in Avenas, at the heart of Beaujolais' crus. Dedicated to organic viticulture and low-intervention winemaking, he crafts Gamay wines that highlight purity and elegance.

Exceptional Terroirs in Fleurie, Morgon, and Régnié

Julien Sunier Estate spans several hectares across three iconic Beaujolais crus: Fleurie, Morgon, and Régnié. His vineyards, located on steep granite slopes, benefit from an ideal climate that imparts freshness and minerality to the wines. Committed to organic farming, he avoids synthetic chemicals, promoting biodiversity and allowing the terroir to express itself fully.

Natural Winemaking with No Artifice

Following traditional Beaujolais methods, Julien Sunier employs whole-cluster fermentation with semi-carbonic maceration, enhancing fruit purity and preserving fine tannins. All grapes are hand-harvested, and fermentations occur with native yeasts. Aging takes place in used Burgundy barrels, adding complexity and depth while maintaining freshness and vibrancy.

Vibrant and Elegant Wines

Julien Sunier’s wines are celebrated for their finesse and aromatic intensity. His Fleurie is floral and delicate, with notes of violets and red berries. The Morgon is more structured, offering deep black cherry flavors with a pronounced mineral backbone. Régnié, the most approachable, delivers a silky texture and an explosion of fresh fruit. Each cuvée precisely reflects its terroir.

Julien Sunier Estate, a Rising Star in Beaujolais

Through meticulous craftsmanship and respect for nature, Julien Sunier has become one of Beaujolais' most promising winemakers. His sought-after wines, featured in top restaurants and cellars, showcase the depth and potential of Gamay. Tasting a Julien Sunier wine is an invitation to discover a Beaujolais that is pure, elegant, and full of life.
