What distinguishes "Le Grand Pas" from the red "Clapas" wines in their blend?

The 2023 "Le Grand Pas" brings together Grenache, Carignan and Syrah, while the blend listed for "Les Clapas" also includes Cinsault. This is a difference to consider when tasting them side by side, without inferring from this alone which is lighter or more powerful.

Which bottles should I pair to discover two vintages from Pas de l'Escalette?

You can compare the 2023 "Le Grand Pas" and the 2024 "Les Petits Pas" from Pas de l'Escalette. However, these are two different wines, so any differences in the tasting cannot be attributed to the vintage alone.

For what occasion should I choose "Le Grand Pas" for a tasting of the estate's wines?

A tasting featuring several of the estate's wines is an opportunity to present it alongside the red or white "Clapas" wines. The white offers a chance to discover another color, while the red provides a point of comparison between blends.

Is the magnum of "Les Petits Pas" simply a large format of "Le Grand Pas"?

No: the 2023 "Le Grand Pas" is listed here in a 75 cl bottle, while the magnum featured in the catalogue is called "Les Petits Pas". Choosing between these references therefore means changing wines, not just bottle size.

Is the name "Le Grand Pas" enough to choose this wine if I'm looking for a powerful red?

No, the name of the wine does not indicate its power. With no tasting note provided for this 2023, its blend is also not enough to determine its intensity, texture or tannin level.
