Should this 2024 Charmes-Chambertin be opened young or saved for the 2030s?

How should I prepare this bottle if I'd like to serve it soon?

Serve it at 16–17 °C and plan to decant it if opening it young. Decanting is recommended to encourage its aromatic expression, but no specific duration is given.

Would this wine pair well with poultry and morels rather than red meat?

Yes, roasted Bresse chicken with morels is among the recommended pairings. The wine's black truffle notes echo the mushrooms, while its velvety attack and fine tannins mean the pairing does not rely solely on matching intensity.

Could the barrel aging overpower the fruit?

The 16- to 18-month aging period uses a combination of new and older barrels, with the stated aim of giving the wine structure without masking the fruit. The profile described for this Charmes-Chambertin from Duroché highlights black cherry, blackcurrant, violet, and black truffle above all, rather than dominant oak.

Can I serve this same bottle with several dishes at a holiday dinner?

The suggested pairings make it possible to serve it with foie gras pan-seared and accompanied by fig chutney, followed by roasted Bresse chicken with morels. This allows you to serve the same wine with both courses, each of which is explicitly recommended with this cuvée.
