A Self-Taught and Passionate Winemaker

Dominique Andiran is an unconventional winemaker whose journey reflects a deep passion for wine and nature. A former ski and sailing instructor, he transitioned into viticulture in the early 2000s with an intuitive, environmentally respectful approach. Based in Montréal-du-Gers, he cultivates his vineyard using organic farming methods, completely banning chemical inputs in favor of natural plant-based treatments. His commitment to living viticulture is evident in every cuvée, where terroir and authenticity shine without manipulation.

A Diverse Vineyard Across Multiple Terroirs

The estate covers approximately 18 hectares, spread across several communes in the South-West of France. The clay-limestone soils of Lauraet, the brown earth of Montréal, and the gravelly clay-limestone soils of Vopillon contribute a unique mineral complexity to the wines. This diversity allows for the cultivation of a wide range of native grape varieties: Colombard, Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng, Muscadelle, Petit Courbu, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Rose for whites, along with Merlot and Tannat for reds. Each parcel is carefully managed to express the true identity of its terroir.

A Commitment to Sustainable and Respectful Viticulture

Dominique Andiran is a strong advocate of natural farming practices. His estate is certified organic and incorporates many biodynamic principles to preserve biodiversity and enhance soil vitality. Gentle pruning, light tilling, and herbal teas replace conventional treatments. The grapes are hand-harvested, ensuring meticulous selection and the utmost respect for the fruit.

Bold and Singular Winemaking Techniques

In the cellar, Dominique Andiran takes a minimalist approach, allowing the wine to develop naturally. He prioritizes native yeast fermentations and avoids corrective interventions such as chaptalization or excessive filtration. He also experiments with unconventional aging techniques, including controlled oxidation, aging under flor, and light exposure, creating cuvées with a unique and distinctive character.

Iconic Cuvées Showcasing the Terroir

Estate Dominique Andiran offers a range of natural wines that break away from conventional winemaking. "Le Ruminant des Vignes," an oxidative white made from Gros Manseng, captivates with its depth and complex aromas. "Vain de Rû," crafted from Colombard, is a lively, fresh wine with citrus and floral notes. "Magnus," a red blend of Merlot and Tannat, boasts a solid structure with intense black fruit and spice aromas. Each cuvée is an invitation to explore sincere, living wines crafted with meticulous care and a deep respect for nature.

Estate Dominique Andiran, a Signature in Natural Wines

With his instinctive approach, unwavering respect for the land, and bold choices in the cellar, Dominique Andiran has become a key figure in the French natural wine movement. His vibrant and expressive cuvées appeal to wine lovers seeking authenticity beyond standardized flavors.
