A Family Estate in the Heart of the Basque Country

Nestled in Ispoure, near Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, Estate Bordaxuria represents the viticultural revival of the Irouléguy appellation. Established in 2014 by Elorri Reca and Brice Robelet, this family vineyard carries on a decades-old legacy. After reclaiming family plots planted in the 1980s, the couple decided to produce their own wines, aiming to reveal the true essence of the Basque terroir.

A Terrace Vineyard on Challenging Terrain

Estate Bordaxuria spans 9.5 hectares of vineyards planted on terraces along the steep slopes of the Arradoy massif. This unique terroir, composed of red sandstone and schist soils, imparts remarkable minerality and structure to the wines. The altitude and south-facing exposure ensure optimal grape ripening, while terrace farming demands rigorous, fully manual labor.

Dedicated to environmental stewardship, Elorri and Brice embrace a fully organic approach. No pesticides or herbicides are used, and the soils are cultivated naturally to preserve biodiversity. This deep respect for nature is reflected in every cuvée, striking a perfect balance between tradition and modernity.

Native Grape Varieties at Their Best

Estate Bordaxuria highlights the emblematic grape varieties of the Irouléguy appellation. For reds, Tannat, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon combine to create powerful yet elegant wines with vibrant freshness. For whites, Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng, and Petit Courbu produce aromatic and structured wines with exceptional mineral tension.

Cuvées Praised for Their Authenticity

Among the estate’s standout wines, the white cuvée "Axalatik" captivates with its complexity and notes of citrus and white flowers. The red "Bordaxuria" showcases a bold tannic structure with deep black fruit and spice aromas.
