Can I choose this Montlouis to accompany a dessert?

Appearance: Pale yellow with green highlights.
Nose: Delicate aromas of white flowers, green apple, and a slight mineral touch.
Palate: Marked freshness, lively acidity, saline finish with notes of crunchy fruit.

The name "Montlouis Moelleux" suggests a sweet wine, but the description provided presents a dry, crisp and saline white wine. This contradiction means it is not possible to confirm that it will pair well with a dessert: its sweetness level should be checked before choosing it for this purpose.

Is it still worth keeping this 2018, or would it be better to open it in 2026?

The stated cellaring potential is 5 to 8 years, with an indicative endpoint around 2026. It is therefore preferable to plan to open it rather than extend its storage based solely on this product description; there is no information to support recommending further aging.

How should I prepare the bottle to best enjoy its aromas?

The serving advice provided recommends a temperature of 10 to 12 °C. Decanting for about thirty minutes is also suggested to reveal its complexity, particularly its notes of white flowers and green apple, along with its mineral touch.

For a family lunch, would it be better to serve it with fish or poultry?

Both options are among the suggested pairings: river trout fillets or herb-roasted free-range chicken. For a meal featuring products from the Loire Valley, trout is a fitting choice given the freshness and saline finish described, subject to clarifying whether the wine is dry or sweet.

Does the maturity of the 2018 vintage mean that this wine lacks freshness?

No, according to the notes provided: 2018 brought excellent ripeness and good aromatic concentration, but the tasting notes also describe pronounced freshness and lively acidity. Aging on fine lees is said to add richness and texture without making the wine heavy.
