A team-building day of discovery, sharing and good spirits
At Grands Bourgognes, our day-to-day work is naturally shaped by wine, estates and conversations with our customers. But behind every order, every piece of advice and every project, there is also a team working together every day.
Our first stop took us to Givry, to Domaine François Lumpp, where we were welcomed by Anne-Cécile Lumpp.
The morning began with a tasting of several cuvées from the estate, including the 2024 vintage. This was a particularly interesting tasting for our team, as we will be receiving these new bottles at Grands Bourgognes at the end of the year.
Being able to taste this vintage before it arrives allows us to better understand its profile, discover its first expressions and speak directly with the estate about the choices made. Once the wines are available, we will be able to present them to our customers with a more concrete understanding of the cuvées.
This tasting was also an opportunity to discuss the different terroirs of Givry, the specific character of each vintage and the work carried out to give every wine its own identity.
Our conversations with Anne-Cécile Lumpp naturally turned to the current weather conditions and their impact in the vineyards. With the harvest approaching, the coming weeks are particularly important for the estate.
In particular, we talked about the lack of rain, hail episodes and the recent fires that occurred in the area. These events are a reminder of just how much work in the vineyard depends on climatic conditions and requires constant vigilance.

A visit to the vat room, cellar and vineyards
After the tasting, Anne-Cécile Lumpp showed us around the estate’s vat room. This allowed us to better understand the different stages that follow the harvest, from the arrival of the grapes through to the winemaking process. The visit then continued in the cellar, where the wines develop and continue their ageing before bottling.
Discovering these spaces gives a very tangible dimension to the wines we tasted. Behind every bottle are many months of work, precise choices and attention paid to every step.
We then went directly into the estate’s vineyards. This part of the visit allowed us to observe the plots, better understand their environment and see first-hand the effects of the weather conditions we had discussed just moments earlier.
The notions of terroir, exposure and climat inevitably take on another dimension when you are standing right in the middle of the vines. It was also an opportunity to see how the vine cycle was progressing just a few weeks before the harvest.
This complete immersion, from the tasting through to the plots, helped us better understand the work of Domaine François Lumpp and place each cuvée in its environment. We warmly thank Anne-Cécile Lumpp for her welcome, her availability and the quality of her explanations throughout the visit.

Lunch at Clos du Moulin aux Moines
After this morning full of discoveries, we headed to Clos du Moulin aux Moines for lunch. This moment around the table allowed us to continue our conversations in a more relaxed setting and make the most of the day together.
Lunch also gave us the opportunity to taste wines from estates we already knew, but which we do not currently offer at Grands Bourgognes. It was a great way to step outside our habits, discover other styles and continue enriching our wine culture.
In our profession, it is of course essential to know the bottles we sell inside out. But it is just as interesting to remain curious, taste different wines and discover the work of other estates.
Among the bottles tasted, we were particularly fortunate to discover Griotte from Domaine Roulot, which naturally caught the team’s attention. This lunch therefore perfectly combined conviviality and discovery, while allowing us to continue the discussions begun during the morning.

An end to the day at TNCO
To finish the day, we went to TNCO to share a more playful moment. After the tastings and lunch, this final stop allowed us to completely change the atmosphere, relax and simply enjoy a good time together.
Laughter, conversation and good spirits were all part of the occasion. It was a wonderful way to strengthen the bonds between the different members of the team, away from the habits and constraints of everyday life.

A wonderful day together
This team-building day allowed us to discover the 2024 vintage from Domaine François Lumpp, visit the vat room, cellar and vineyards, taste new wines at Clos du Moulin aux Moines and end the day in a lighter atmosphere at TNCO.
A simple and convivial interlude, reflecting what brings us together at Grands Bourgognes: a passion for wine, curiosity and the pleasure of sharing good moments as a team.
Thank you to Anne-Cécile Lumpp and Domaine François Lumpp for their warm welcome, and to the whole team for their energy and good spirits throughout the day.
