A Family Heritage in Les Riceys
Located in Les Riceys, in the Côte des Bar, the Champagne Olivier Horiot estate is the result of a long family tradition. Olivier and Marie Horiot took over the domain in 1999, bringing a modern vision while respecting ancestral practices. Les Riceys, the only village with three Champagne AOCs (Champagne, Coteaux Champenois, and Rosé des Riceys), offers a rich and diverse terroir.
A Unique Terroir and Responsible Viticulture
Olivier Horiot's vineyards are set on Kimmeridgian soils, rich in marl and limestone, similar to those in Chablis. This geological feature imparts remarkable minerality and finesse to the wines. Committed to organic and biodynamic viticulture, the estate promotes biodiversity and respects natural cycles, avoiding synthetic chemicals.
Distinctive Cuvées Showcasing the Terroir
The estate offers champagnes and still wines that reflect the typicity of each plot and grape variety:
- 5 Sens: A blend of the seven Champagne grape varieties (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Arbane, Petit Meslier, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Gris), this cuvée offers exceptional aromatic complexity.
- Sève En Barmont: A Blanc de Noirs made from Pinot Noir, revealing fruity notes and a fine mineral tension.
- Rosé des Riceys En Valingrain: A still wine made from Pinot Noir, this rosé presents red fruit aromas and an elegant structure.
Natural and Respectful Winemaking
Olivier Horiot favors vinification with indigenous yeasts, without chaptalization or filtration, to preserve the authenticity of the terroir. The wines are aged in barrels, adding complexity and depth, while respecting the natural expression of the grapes.
International Recognition and Ongoing Commitment
Through its innovative and respectful approach, Champagne Olivier Horiot has won over enthusiasts and critics worldwide. The estate continues its commitment to sustainable viticulture, offering authentic wines that reflect the richness and diversity of the Les Riceys terroir.
