Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Louis Jadot has become a cornerstone of Burgundy winemaking. The story began in 1826 with the acquisition of Clos des Ursules, a renowned vineyard in Beaune. From the very beginning, the house has been committed to preserving and highlighting the identity of Burgundy’s terroirs through meticulous viticulture and respectful vinification. Today, it owns approximately 270 hectares of vineyards across Burgundy, from Côte d’Or to Beaujolais, exclusively producing Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) wines.
Maison Louis Jadot embodies the essence of Burgundy, where every vineyard parcel expresses a unique character. With a presence throughout the region, the house produces wines from some of Burgundy’s most prestigious appellations, including Corton-Charlemagne, Gevrey-Chambertin, Puligny-Montrachet, Vosne-Romanée, and Beaune Premier Cru "Clos des Ursules." This diversity allows the house to offer a broad range of wines, from approachable cuvées to the most sought-after grand crus, each meticulously reflecting its specific terroir.
Louis Jadot's winemaking philosophy is centered on precision and respect for the fruit. Hand-harvesting ensures optimal grape selection, and fermentation occurs with indigenous yeasts to preserve the wine’s pure expression. Aging takes place in oak barrels, a portion of which are crafted at the house’s own cooperage, Cadus, established in 1996. This expertise allows for a tailored use of oak, ensuring perfect balance between structure, finesse, and aromatic complexity in each vintage.
With an annual production of 8 to 9 million bottles, Maison Louis Jadot is one of Burgundy’s largest and most respected producers and négociants. Approximately 85 to 90% of its wines are exported, bringing Burgundy’s excellence to wine lovers worldwide. The house’s commitment to quality and consistency has earned it widespread acclaim from leading critics and sommeliers, securing its place among the most prestigious Burgundy producers.
Although acquired in 1985 by the Kopf family, founders of Kobrand Corporation, Maison Louis Jadot remains under the leadership of the Gagey family, ensuring the continuity of its founding values. This family-led management guarantees meticulous attention to detail in every step of production, maintaining the house’s commitment to excellence for over 160 years. By upholding Burgundy traditions while integrating modern and sustainable practices, Louis Jadot continues to shape its legacy and captivate wine enthusiasts worldwide.
